What is CuriosityStream?

This streaming service contains thousands of exclusive and licensed documentaries, most of which cover scientific, historical and technological topics. The founder of the service, John Hendricks, previously founded the Discovery Channel cable television network. CuriosityStream was first launched in 2015 and currently has over 13 million paid subscribers.

How much does CuriosityStream cost?

The service has a choice of four plans. The cheapest plan, in terms of how much you would pay per month, is the HD Annual Plan. You can stream the content in HD resolution for just $ 19.99 per year. This works out to about $ 1.66 per month. If you don’t want to commit, you can get the monthly HD plan for $ 2.99 per month.

If you want to upgrade your streaming videos to 4K resolution, the cost of CuriosityStream increases. You can get a monthly plan for $ 9.99 per month. There’s also an annual 4K plan that costs $ 69.99 per year, or about $ 5.83 per month.

Supported platforms

CuriosityStream is available on almost all video streaming platforms. This includes Apple iOS devices, Android-based smartphones and tablets, as well as Chromecast smart TVs and set-top boxes and Android TV. Apps are also available for smart TVs and Roku set-top boxes. You can find apps for Amazon Fire tablets and Fire TV smart TVs, sticks, and set-top boxes. There is also an Xbox One CuriosityStream app and an Apple TV CuriosityStream app. Smart TVs from LG, Samsung, Sony and Vizio made in 2016 and then come with their own CuriosityStream apps. Is there a free trial of CuriosityStream?

If you order the service directly from its website or apps, there is no free trial available for any of the plans. However, if you sign up for CuriosityStream through any channel on Amazon Prime Video, the Roku channel, and others, you can get a seven-day free trial. You can cancel any time before the end of the trial period to avoid charges.

The CuriosityStream apps for iOS and Android support background playback. You can continue to listen to the content of a show while using another application on your device. You can also download shows for offline viewing through the CuriosityStream mobile apps.
