What you will learn
Alexa-enabled surveillance cameras are now available almost everywhere
When cooking in the children's room, quickly check whether everything is okay with the baby or check in the evening from the couch to see who has rung the bell: this is not a problem with Echo Show Displays. Regardless of whether you own an Echo Show 2, Echo Show 5 or Echo Show 8 – they can all be networked with Alexa-compatible cameras and their images can be shown live on your own display.
Other areas of use for Echo Show-capable indoor and outdoor cameras include securing the property outdoors (e.g. garden or driveway) and monitoring pets. If you have an Echo Show in the office, you can e.g. Check regularly what your dog is doing at health home and – if desired – talk to him.
Tip: Our guide shows how to use Alexa as a doorbell using the ring video doorbells as an example.
These are the 3 best surveillance cameras for Echo Show
From the many Alexa-compatible surveillance cameras, we have selected three that are also suitable for demanding users. There is something for every type of user.
Our price-performance recommendation: Blink XT2
With its battery life of up to two years, the weatherproof Blink XT2 stands out from the mass of affordable Alexa cameras and makes it the ideal solution for everyone who wants to take care of their smart health home as little as possible. We also find it very positive that the pictures of the cam can be saved for up to one year free of charge.
A sync module is required for use, but this is already included with all starter sets. Thus, there are no additional costs for our comparison winner.
Alternative without system binding: Ring Spotlight Cam
The Ring Spotlight Cam offers even more smart functions than our comparison winner. With it e.g. Individual movement zones can be set up and an alarm can be started remotely via the app. In addition, a light has been integrated here that can illuminate walkways or deter burglars.
However, users should note the following restrictions before buying: In contrast to the Blink model, the Ring Cam is wired and its video storage can only be used in full with a subscription.
Alternative with 4K resolution – Arlo Ultra
Those who place particularly high demands on health home surveillance should use the Arlo Ultra surveillance camera because it leaves nothing to be desired. Thanks to 4K HDR video, you won't miss any detail. It can even tell when a package is dropped off the door and notify its owner of delivery.
In addition, with its 180 degree field of view, Arlo Ultra far exceeds all other models presented here and also scores with a color night vision mode.
Evidence images can be recorded either by subscription in the cloud or locally on an SD card – depending on what the user likes better.
So everyone Arlo Ultra SmartHub (VMB5000) is required for cameras in the household to be able to interact with each other or with Alexa and Echo Show. We therefore recommend that new users buy a starter set that already contains it.
Technical comparison of the Echo Show surveillance cameras
All three of the Echo Show-capable surveillance cameras recommended by us convince with their high resolution and an intercom function is also integrated.
However, there are clear differences in data storage and energy supply. So is Blink XT2 the only cam in which evidence images are stored for up to one year free of charge via the cloud. Arlo Ultra offers the possibility to choose between a cloud subscription and the use of a local memory card. At ring on the other hand, video storage without a subscription is not possible at all.
Overall, Blink XT2 is the cheapest solution, but Ring and Arlo offer practical extras such as optionally available solar panels for locations without a power connection.

Overview of other surveillance cameras for Echo Show
In addition to the ones mentioned here, there are many other Alexa-compatible models that are suitable for use with an Echo Show Display, including e.g. also the following:
Inexpensive basic model: Ring Stick Up Cam Battery
It is the standard version of the Ring Spotlight Cam recommended by us and does not need any lighting. With 1080p HD video surveillance, infrared night vision, motion detection and intercom function, the Ring Stick up Cam still has all the important surveillance camera functions.
This model also requires a data storage subscription. The subscription is worthwhile. B. if commercial premises are unsupervised over the weekend or apartment owners are on vacation for a long time. If the storage subscription is no longer required, it can be canceled monthly.
2K resolution: Arlo Pro 3
With Arlo Pro 3 it is the 2K version of the Arlo Ultra 4K Cam. The subscription is mandatory for everyone who wants to permanently save their recordings via the cloud. In return, evidence images are protected at all times and cannot be lost even if the surveillance camera is stolen.
Also with Arlo Pro 3 Incidentally, a color night vision mode, a spotlight and a siren were integrated. However, due to the lower image resolution, it is significantly cheaper than our favorite Arlo Ultra.
Inexpensive Arlo alternative without subscription: eufyCam 2C
The design of the eufyCam 2C is strongly reminiscent of the Arlo surveillance cameras. A spotlight, an intercom function and the possibility of setting up surveillance zones are other similarities. However, the night vision mode of the eufyCam 2C only records images in black and white instead of color and a siren is not found. So far, the Anker subsidiary has not yet offered any solar panels for the environmentally friendly operation of the camera.
With extra bright floodlights: Ring Floodlight Cam
As a premium model of the Ring model series, the Ring Floodlight Cam combines a 1080p HD surveillance camera with floodlights and intercom in accordance with its name. If desired, the Echo Show-enabled camera can even be armed on the go. This means: It starts filming automatically when the integrated motion sensor registers unusual events in a previously defined motion zone.
