Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni review: the most advanced Deebot

Thanks to its station, the Deebot X1 Omni must be able to operate in perfect autonomy for several days, and even several weeks. The manufacturer promises in any case up to 6 weeks of suction before having to change the 3-litre dust bag, housed in a drawer under the water tanks of the skate rinsing system – a system already crossed on Deebot X1 Turbo Dock. Here too, the system also fills the robot’s water tank; he can thus moisten his skates throughout the cleaning.

In the absence of being able to verify the estimate of Ecovacs, for lack of time, but also because we are far from having a normal use of the device, we appreciate at least not having to empty the small collector of 400 ml of the robot after each cleaning. On the other hand, the user is not exempted from the maintenance of the filters, which also clog up quite quickly during cleaning. For its part, the rinsing system is once again quite effective. On the downside, as with the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra’s station, it’s best not to look too closely at the ramp status if you’re a bit of a maniac.

The automatic drain does not help unclog the filters.

In return for these many advantages, the station of the Deebot X1 Omni is particularly imposing, Ecovacs having chosen to superimpose the dust bag and the water tanks. It is the highest station (60 cm high) that we have seen so far. While offering similar functions, Roborock and Roidmi – with its Eva – offer slightly more compact stations. However, if you are looking for a discreet vacuum cleaner, the easiest way is to settle for a charging station without additional functions.

The station is also noisy when it vacuums, much more than when it rinses the pads (between 51 and 59 dB(A)), but also than the robot during its passage (63 dB(A) at most). We recorded up to 69 dB(A) at 1 meter distance. As on the Deebot X1 Turbo station, a compartment for some accessories is also provided there and we can also note that Ecovacs delivers its robot with a small brush and a pair of spare pads.

The drawer opens with a hidden button just above the robot; you have to know it the first time!

Since its station is the only real difference with the Deebot X1 Turbo, the Omni version offers the same experience for the rest. The front camera and associated obstacle recognition technology certainly left us a little unsatisfied, but the laser rangefinder and other sensors work wonderfully and allow the Deebot X1 Omni to effectively map and cover rooms in the house. . Many options are also available to customize the maps in the application and in particular to prohibit access to certain areas of the house.

The Deebot X1 Omni should be able to detect obstacles using a 3D scanner and a camera on the front, but there are still some hiccups.

It should also be noted that, unlike a Roborock S7 or S7 MaxV whose mop is automatically raised when approaching a carpet, the Deebot’s pads remain on the ground. It is therefore essential to define zones around the mats. As with most robots offering it, the washing function is especially effective on fresh and lightly encrusted stains, even with the maximum water flow. However, it seems to us a little more efficient than that of the Roidmi Eva, which also uses a system of pads.

The Deebot X1 Omni and its rotating skates.

The Deebot X1 Omni’s rotating pads do a pretty good job.

On the suction side, the new Ecovacs robot does very well on all types of surfaces, including high-pile carpets. We can even do without the maximum power. In the end, it does not change much in the end result and the Deebot X1 Omni is obviously more enduring on standard power. It can then suck for about three hours, compared to just over an hour in Max+ mode.
