Apple Watch: not in the Apple Store before June

Apple's simply named "Watch" smart health watch sells like sliced bread. On the first weekend of the launch, the company recorded 1 million pre-orders – by now it should be around 2.3 million. On the other hand, only 720,000 copies of Google's various Android wear devices were reportedly sold throughout the past year.

The high demand for the Apple Watch combined with the initial delivery situation means that the wearable will not be available for purchase in the Apple Store before June. This is the result of an internal memo by Angela Ahrendts, head of retail and online store, which has been published by the French website

For the time being, prospective customers must continue to order the smartwatch online, but can now try it out in Apple stores and try it on. However, the delivery times have slipped into July – if you order an Apple Watch now, you have to be prepared for a long wait. If you pre-ordered your Apple Watch very early, you should receive it as promised on April 24, according to Ahrendts.

The current sales behavior on the Apple Watch is an exception – Ahrendts promises that there will be “blockbuster Apple product launch days” again in future product launches. With the Apple Watch 2, you can then line up again in one of the usual Apple Store beats on the day of the start of sales.
